The biggest attractions are the lakes, which draw visitors from all over to enjoy boating, fishing, camping and picnicking in the warm-weather months. Benton has several miles of property fronting Seneca Lake, one of the largest of the Finger Lakes, with spectacular views overlooking vineyards and wineries that are abundant in the region. Penn Yan, only six miles south of Benton, is the most developed nearby area with several restaurants and a few stores. The larger city of Geneva is only 13 miles northeast of Benton.
