The town includes a handful of hamlets and, at the northeast corner of Middlesex, a sliver of the village of Rushville (which also is partly in Potter as well as in Ontario County). The High Tor Wildlife Management Area, a conservation area, is in the southwest part of town. The Rochester Folk Art Guild, an association of craftsmen and –women who both live and visit here, is in Middlesex.
Local Museums/Landmarks
Several sites in Middlesex are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Bates Cobblestone Farmhouse, the John Carr House, the Asahel Green Farm, Middlesex Center Methodist Church, Overackers Corner Schoolhouse, and Vine Valley Methodist Church. In the village of Rushville, the Milton Wilson House also is on the national register.
