Essentials Lakewood has some interesting specialty shops and its retail center has been growing, but the big shopping attraction here is Chautauqua Mall. The mall has major retailers like JC Penney, Sears and lots more, as well as a movie-theater multiplex. Lakewood also has a Walmart Supercenter. Nearby Jamestown also has a Walmart Supercenter, a Sam’s Club and more small stores. For grocery shopping, along with the mentioned Walmart stores, Jamestown has two Tops Friendly Markets stores, a Wegmans supermarket and smaller grocers like Aldi’s and Save-a-Lot.
Most students who live in Busti and Lakewood attend the Jamestown City School District, which has a high school, three middle schools, and five elementary schools. The Southwestern Central School District is on the west end of Jamestown and serves about 1,500 students. Jamestown Community College, a two-year school, also is in Jamestown. The regional hospital is WCA Hospital in Jamestown. The area’s libraries are Lakewood Memorial Library on Summit Street in the village, Hazeltine Public Library in Jamestown and, to the south, Sugar Grove Free Library in Sugar Grove, Pa. |
