Overview

Clymer is a town on the southern end of Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by Sherman, to the east by Harmony, to the south by Pennsylvania (Wayne Township in Erie County and Columbus Township in Warren County), and to the west by French Creek. Clymer has several hamlets but no village. The mainly rural community is home to the annual Clymer Tulip Festival.


Essentials

Clymer has been home to Neckers Company General Store since 1910. Advertised as “The Small Town Store with So Much More,” Neckers is a fourth-generation family store that sells groceries, clothing, shoes, home decor and gifts and more. French Creek General Store (which is in Clymer) sells groceries, hardware, antiques and more. Clymer also has Creekside Groceries and other small stores, as does Corry, Pa. (about 8 miles south of Clymer). For major grocery stores, Tops Friendly Markets has stores in Union City, Pa. (18 miles southwest of Clymer) and in Mayville (about 20 miles northeast of Clymer).



Recreation & Entertainment

Clymer is largely a rural, wide-open community. The biggest attraction here is the Peek ‘N Peak Resort, Spa and Adventure Park, which offers golf, skiing, swimming, tennis, spa facilities and a new Adventure Park with zip lines and more. To the north in Sherman is The Heron, an outdoor place that has a lighted one-mile trail with artistic offerings and music. The Heron also hosts the annual Blue Heron Music Festival.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 474 runs through Clymer and intersects Route 76 in the hamlet of North Clymer.



Pros & Cons

Small-town living with a quaint, small shopping district is the appealing factor in Clymer. There’s plenty of room here to enjoy the great outdoors. Pennsylvania is just south of Clymer.
