Overview

Harmony is a town on the southern border of Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by North Harmony, to the east by Busti, to the south by Pennsylvania (Columbus Township, in Warren County) and to the west by Clymer. Harmony is a mainly rural community with several hamlets and the village of Panama, where you’ll find the fascinating Panama Rocks, a half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rock that forms caves in an ancient forest


Essentials

Most shopping needs can be met in Jamestown. For groceries, Jamestown has two Tops Friendly Markets stores, a Wegmans supermarket, and smaller stores like Aldi’s and Save-a-Lot. Jamestown and Lakewood both have Walmart Supercenter stores for grocery shopping or retail shopping. The widest variety of retail shopping is at Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood, which has major retailers like JC Penney, Sears and lots more. Jamestown also has a Sam’s Club and more small stores. 



Recreation & Entertainment

Panama Rocks is a great place for hiking and awesome natural sights. Nearby, you’ll find plenty of attractions. Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood has a movie-theater multiplex and a lot more. Lakewood Beach has a public beach, a boat launch, tennis courts and more, and the park’s gazebo plays host to a series of free summertime concerts. Statewide Speedway in Busti offers drag racing. Nearby Clymer is home to the Peek ‘N Peak Resort, Spa and Adventure Park, a resort that has a variety of activities and restaurants. Bemus Point (about 11 miles northeast) has an old-time amusement park and more



Transportation & Traffic

Route 474 is a major east-west highway that runs through the north part of Harmony.



Pros & Cons

Panama is a small, wide-open community with plenty of open space. Visitors come here to check out the interesting Panama Rocks attraction. You’re close to Chautauqua Lake and the busier communities of Lakewood and Jamestown.
