Overview
Mina is a town on the western edge of Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by Ripley, to the east by Sherman, to the south by French Creek and to the west by Pennsylvania (towns of North East and Greenfield, both in Erie County). Mina is a small town of just over 1,000 residents and is best known as a resort area centered in the hamlet of Findley Lake. The community has antique and specialty shops and lots of restaurants. The much-busier city of Erie, Pa. is only 20 miles west of Mina.
Local Museums & Landmarks
The Findley Lake-Mina Historical Society, housed in Town Hall on North Road, has World War I and World War II memorabilia among its collection. Findley Lake Nature Center and Wildlife Education Center features a 10-acre marsh with a variety of plants and wildlife. The neighboring town of Sherman is home to the Yorker Museum, which is called “a village within a village” and includes six restored buildings that depict life during the mid-1800s.
