Welcome to Sheridan, NY

Overview

Sheridan is a town in the northeast corner of Chautauqua County, bordered to the north by Lake Erie, to the east by the town of Hanover (which includes the villages of Silver Creek and Forestville), to the south by Arkwright, and to the west by Dunkirk and Pomfret. The village of Fredonia is just past Sheridan’s southwest border. Sheridan contains three hamlets but no villages of its own. The town is nestled in the grape-growing region of Chautauqua County and one of the area’s many wineries – Liberty Vineyards Winery – can be found here. The town’s location on the shoreline of Lake Erie is a plus.

Essentials

Sheridan has only a few stores, but there are plenty of nearby options. For grocery shopping, Dunkirk has a Tops Friendly Markets store on Vineyard Drive, an Aldi store on Vineyard Drive and a smaller Save-A-Lot on East 4th Street. All are about five miles southeast of Sheridan. Fredonia has a Country fair grocery, and Silver Creek also has a Tops store, about six miles northeast of Sheridan. Most retail needs can also be met in nearby Dunkirk, which has plazas with stores including JC Penney, Peebles, T.J. Maxx, Big Lots and Dollar General. Fredonia has a Walmart Supercenter and a Sears Hometown Store, among others

Pros & Cons
